Investcorp Puts AI At The Center Of Its Investing Playbook

Investcorp has launched a firmwide playbook meant to guide how the company evaluates and pursues artificial intelligence-driven themes.

The alternative investment manager said the approach will be used across private equity, real assets and credit.

The framework, which is laid out in a report, describes a cross-platform method for spotting and acting on AI-related opportunities.

The firm said it is weaving AI into its investment workflows, portfolio design and value-creation planning and expects the framework to sharpen investment decisions, improve portfolio outcomes and help capture AI-related upside while managing downside exposure.

"Artificial intelligence represents a fundamental shift in how value is created across the global economy. For private markets, this is not simply about adopting new technologies, but about applying them with discipline and intent,” said Executive Chairman Mohammed Alardhi. “As a global alternative investment firm, we believe that a selective, cross-platform approach enables investors to capture the opportunities AI presents, while continuing to prioritize resilience and long-term performance."

Vice Chairman and Chief Investment Officer Rishi Kapoor noted, "At Investcorp, we are embedding AI across our investment platform, from sourcing and diligence through to portfolio management and value creation. This framework reflects our belief that AI is not a standalone strategy, but a powerful lens through which we assess opportunities, manage risk and enhance performance.

“By focusing on targeted, high-impact use cases, we are strengthening our ability to deliver disciplined returns for our clients.”

Investcorp said the framework is built around selectivity and resilience, with an emphasis on assets and companies it sees as essential, rich in data and able to operate through disruption. The firm said it plans to stay disciplined on underwriting and risk controls while pursuing areas where AI can lift efficiency, scale and profitability.

The report also describes practical applications, including using AI to speed research and diligence, improve investment committee work, strengthen portfolio oversight and roll out targeted data-driven tools inside portfolio companies.
