Live: Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri announced in a statement to Asharq Al-Awsat that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the Lebanese roadmap that we agreed upon with the US envoy to Lebanon, Amos Hochstein, mourning the “recent US initiative to cease fire in Lebanon.”
Berri pointed out that the political movement to resolve the crisis has been postponed until after the US elections, and he refused to "make predictions about the course of the crisis in light of the results of the US elections," noting that "this leaves matters in Lebanon subject to developments on the ground," expressing his fear of "turning Lebanon into a second Gaza."
Berri confirmed that "Hochstein has not communicated with us since he left Israel," noting that "he promised during his previous visit to go to Tel Aviv if he found positives, but he has not informed us of anything since he left Tel Aviv."
Berri reiterated "Lebanon's affirmation of its constants in this area, most notably adherence to international resolution 1701."
