SAO PAULO, June 8 (Reuters) - Brazilian retailer Magazine Luiza MGLU3.SA is going to sell its products on Amazon's AMZN.O e-commerce marketplace in the Latin American country starting this week, the companies said on Monday in a joint statement.
The deal includes over 12,000 products from categories such as home appliances, electronics, sports, games and cosmetics.
The move is part of Magazine Luiza's goal to accelerate e-commerce sales of durable goods through new channels, while expanding Amazon's assortment of products sold in Brazil.
Magazine Luiza's transportation firm Magalog will operate the deliveries.
"We believe the initiative could help Magazine Luiza reaccelerate GMV growth while expanding assortment and traffic at a lower execution risk," UBS BB analysts said.
The move is the latest commercial partnership between rival retailers in Brazil; previous ones include those between Magazine Luiza and AliExpress, and Amazon and Casas Bahia BHIA3.SA.
