LONDON, March 10 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Court filings by the developer of chatbot Claude reveal lifetime sales 'exceeding $5 bln,' compared to a touted 'run rate' figure of $19 bln. The gap hints at how recent actual financial growth has been for model-makers, and how tenuous extrapolations of these trends are.

Anthropic on March 9 filed a lawsuit to block the Pentagon from placing it on a national security blacklist, escalating a battle with the U.S. government over usage restrictions on its technology.
Anthropic's all-time sales, since commercializing its technology in 2023, exceed $5 billion, according to the company’s chief financial officer, Krishna Rao.
On February 12, Anthropic said it achieved a revenue run-rate of $14 billion. The company posted a $19 billion run-rate at the end of February, Reuters reported.
