HELSINKI, May 26 (Reuters) - Vattenfall has signed an agreement with AI infrastructure developer Nscale to supply electricity for the first phase of a data centre project in Kvandal, northern Norway, the Swedish utility said on Tuesday.
Contract runs from 2027 to 2031.
Reflects growing demand for renewable electricity from AI and digital infrastructure sectors.
Site will begin operations in 2027 with an initial capacity of 230 megawatts.
Nscale, founded in 2024 and backed by Aker ASA AKER.OL Nvidia NVDA.O and others, owns and operates its own data centres and in March raised $2 billion in a funding round that valued it at $14.6 billion.
