June 8 (Reuters Sports Service) - Yun Arias scored twice to lead Colombia to a 2-0 victory over Jordan in San Diego on Sunday in the two teams' final friendly match before the World Cup.
James Rodriguez passed the ball to Arias to open the scoring in the 41st minute.
Palmeiras midfielder Arias stumbled initially before recovering the ball at the edge of the penalty area, regaining his balance and unleashing a low shot that Jordan's goalkeeper Yazeed Abu Laila failed to stop.
Arias doubled the score ten minutes into the second half when he headed home a superb cross from Santiago Arias.
Jordan were unable to get into the game, and substitute midfielder Amer Jammous was sent off in stoppage time after receiving a second yellow card.
This is Colombia's second consecutive win, having defeated Costa Rica 3-1 earlier this month.
Colombia, who failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, begin their campaign in Group 11 against Uzbekistan on June 17 in Mexico City.
Jordan's coach, Jamal Al-Salami, expressed his satisfaction with the technical benefit gained from the match, and confirmed that the team nicknamed "Al-Nashama" faced a distinguished team and benefited from the experience to test many aspects during the match.
He told the Jordanian Football Association's website, "The technical staff is working on correcting mistakes in a way that will contribute to improving the team's performance in the next stage."
Al-Salami pointed out that the national team is continuing its preparations to appear in the best possible way in the World Cup, with the importance of reaching the required readiness before the anticipated match against Austria in the opening of the tournament.

Jordan is participating in the World Cup for the first time, and will open its matches in Group 10 against Austria on Wednesday, June 17, at Santa Clara Stadium in San Francisco.
