PRESSR: The Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah participates in 3 discussion sessions in the “Sharjah International Book 2023”

“The reality of the Arabic language in Europe in education and production” on Thursday, November 2.
“What happens after the completion of the historical dictionary? Ways to benefit and employ it” will be held on Friday, November 3.

The Sharjah Arabic Language Academy is participating in the activities of the 42nd session of the Sharjah International Book Fair 2023, which will be held at the Expo Center and organized by the Sharjah Book Authority during the period from 1 to 12 November 2023, under the slogan “We Talk Books.”
During its participation in the event, the Academy will hold 3 discussion sessions on various topics, including the reality of the Arabic language in Europe, benefiting from historical linguistic dictionaries, and the experience of Polish students at the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, with the participation of many prominent figures and speakers.
Enhancing opportunities for communication and participation
Dr. Ahmed Safi Al Mosteghanemi, Secretary General of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, stressed the importance of the Academy’s presence in this major global event, noting its constant keenness to enhance opportunities for communication and active participation in various local and international events in line with its vision aimed at empowering the Arabic language and strengthening the bonds of scientific cooperation and exchange. He said: “Sharjah’s approach to promoting Arabic culture and language is embodied in the Sharjah International Book Fair, which has become a beacon that attracts readers and lovers of culture and knowledge, and a platform for meeting those interested in literature, publishing houses and others from different parts of the world. We, in turn, look forward to providing discussion sessions that enrich Attendance and providing them with added value in many important areas.”
Sessions, topics, and participants
The first session will be held on Thursday, November 2, at “Multaqa 3” at six in the evening, and addresses the topic “The reality of the Arabic language in Europe in education and production,” and is moderated by Dr. Ahmed Safi Mosteghanemi, with the participation of Dr. Barbara Miklak, university professor and head of the Department of Oriental Studies at the University of Karakow. Dr. Wael Farouk, Professor of Arabic Language and Literature at the Faculty of Arts and Foreign Languages at the Catholic University of Milan, and Dr. Francesca Quaro, Professor of Arabic Language and Literature at the Oriental University of Naples, for the session to provide an overview of the efforts of the Arabists in teaching the Arabic language in Europe and the most important studies and research completed.
On Friday, November 3, the Academy will hold a second session entitled “What comes after the completion of the historical dictionary? Ways to benefit and employ it,” in Forum 2 at 8:30 p.m., hosting Professor Dr. Emil Yacoub, an expert in lexicography and a university professor, and Professor Dr. Emhamed Safi Mosteghanemi, Secretary-General. The Sharjah Arabic Language Academy and Executive Director of the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language Project, and Dr. Mamoun Wajih, Scientific Director of the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language Project**, managed by Rasha Abu Jahin, for participants to shed light on the most important ways to benefit from the historical dictionary and its reflection in the Arab cultural scene.
While the third session will host a group of Polish students, entitled “Sharjah in the Eyes of the Polish Team Students,” and moderated by Professor Amna Al Hashimi, to review the students’ experience at the Arabic Language Complex in Sharjah, and talk about their visit to cultural landmarks in the emirate, on Sunday, November 5, 2023 in 6:00 pm at Forum 3.
