Egyptian Finance Minister Mohamed Maait decided on Thursday to assign Rasha Abdel Aal to manage the affairs of the head of the Tax Authority until the position is filled, succeeding the former head of the Authority, Fayez Al-Dabaani.

The Authority is responsible for collecting taxes in Egypt, and it represents the main source of public revenues for the state, which is suffering from a liquidity crisis and record high levels of inflation.

According to a statement from the ministry published on its official website, Rasha Abdel Aal was the deputy head of the Tax Authority, and according to a previous statement, she was assigned to this position last June.

The Minister of Finance assigned Al-Dabaani to manage the duties of the head of the Tax Authority until the position is filled in June 2023.
