Looking at Kanzhun Limited's (NASDAQ:BZ ) insider transactions over the last year, we can see that insiders were net sellers. That is, there were more number of shares sold by insiders than there were purchased.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Kanzhun

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Founder, Peng Zhao, sold US$879k worth of shares at a price of US$13.97 per share. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of US$15.51, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. While insider selling is not a positive sign, we can't be sure if it does mean insiders think the shares are fully valued, so it's only a weak sign. This single sale was just 25% of Peng Zhao's stake. Peng Zhao was the only individual insider to sell over the last year.

I will like Kanzhun better if I see some big insider buys.

Does Kanzhun Boast High Insider Ownership?

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Kanzhun insiders own about US$1.0b worth of shares (which is 14% of the company). This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.

So What Do The Kanzhun Insider Transactions Indicate?

The fact that there have been no Kanzhun insider transactions recently certainly doesn't bother us. It's heartening that insiders own plenty of stock, but we'd like to see more insider buying, since the last year of Kanzhun insider transactions don't fill us with confidence.
