Australia to press US over forced-labour tariff plan, PM Albanese says
SYDNEY, June 4 (Reuters) - Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Thursday his government would continue to argue that U.S. tariffs are unwarranted and undermine the global trading system.
The Trump administration on Tuesday proposed tariffs of up to 12.5% on imports from 60 countries, including Australia, after determining they had failed to curb trade in goods made with forced labour, a claim U.S. trading partners reject.
"Australia has robust, comprehensive, and world-leading legislation addressing forced labour and modern slavery," Albanese told ABC Radio.
