Bessent says confident of 'very successful' monetary policy under BOJ's Ueda
TOKYO, May 12 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Tuesday he had great confidence that Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda will guide the central bank to a "very successful" monetary policy.
"I believe the fundamentals of the Japanese economy are strong and resilient, and that that will be reflected in the exchange rate," Bessent told reporters after meeting Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in Tokyo.
