BUZZ-CIMC HK shares hit 5-month low on US DOJ charges, Singamas drops

** Hong Kong shares of China International Marine Containers 2039.HK drop 11% to HK$8.38, lowest level since December 19

** Shenzhen-listed stock 000039.SZ plunges 9.9% to 10.2 yuan, lowest point since February 3

** The U.S. has charged seven Chinese executives and four of the world's largest shipping container companies, including CIMC and Singamas Container 0716.HK with conspiring to restrict supply, raising the price of containers during the COVID-19 pandemic, Department of Justice officials said

** CIMC says it is aware of the US DOJ charges against the company and neither the firm nor the executives have been served with any legal process or other legal documentation by the US DOJ

** "The company attaches great importance to the matter and will closely monitor and respond proactively," CIMC said, adding its business operations remain normal

** Shares of Singamas plunge 22% to HK$0.46, lowest point since August 2023

** YTD, Singamas shares down 27.5%, CIMC Hong Kong stock down 6.5%, while CIMC Shenzhen shares up 1.6%
