July 20 (Reuters) - A federal judge in Maryland on Monday dismissed a proposed class-action lawsuit accusing Capital One COF.N of imposing excessive interest rates on credit card customers.

U.S. District Judge Theodore Chuang rejected claims by Lynn Strange, who said federal law forbade Capital One from charging an annual interest rate higher than the maximum 6% allowed in its home state of Virginia.
