CBOT Trends-Wheat and corn up 3-4 cents, soybeans up 4-5 cents

- The following are U.S. expectations for the resumption of grain and soy complex trading at the Chicago Board of Trade at 8:30 a.m. CDT (1330 GMT) on Friday:

WHEAT - Up 3 to 4 cents per bushel

  • Wheat futures firmed in early moves, with the most-active CBOT contract Wv1 consolidating below a near two-year high set this week. Market underpinned by worries about drought threatening wheat yield prospects in the southern U.S. Plains.

  • Global supply and demand news was thin with some markets in Europe and Asia closed for holidays.

  • The CBOT reported 312 deliveries against CBOT May WK26 wheat futures and 245 deliveries against K.C. May KWK26 hard red winter wheat futures. WHE/D

  • CBOT July soft red winter wheat WN26 was last up 4-1/4 cents at $6.41 per bushel. K.C. July hard red winter wheat KWN26 was last up 5 cents at $6.98-1/2 a bushel, and Minneapolis July spring wheat MWEN26 was last up 4-1/2 cents at $7.10-1/4 a bushel.

CORN - Up 3 to 4 cents per bushel

  • Corn futures rose in early moves but the benchmark July contract CN26 stayed below a one-month high set on Thursday. Market supported by brisk export demand and fears that a sharp rise in fertilizer costs due to the Iran war will crimp farm output over time.

  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture confirmed private sales of 148,240 metric tons of U.S. corn to undisclosed destinations, including 78,240 tons for delivery in the 2025/26 marketing year that began on September 1, 2025, and 70,000 tons for 2026/27 delivery.

  • The CBOT reported 315 deliveries against CBOT May CK26 corn futures, with the CHS house account issuing 298 lots. COR/DEL

  • CBOT July corn CN26 was last up 3-3/4 cents at $4.78-1/2 per bushel.

SOYBEANS - Up 4 to 5 cents per bushel

  • Soybean futures rose in early moves but the most-active July contract SN26 stayed inside of Thursday's trading range. Soybeans drew support as soyoil futures 0#BO: set contract highs across the board, buoyed by demand for biodiesel.

  • The CBOT reported 367 deliveries against CBOT May SK26 soybean futures, with the Bunge house account receiving 47 lots. SOY/DEL

  • The exchange reported 712 deliveries against May soyoil BOK26 futures, with the ADM house account stopping 683 lots. There were no deliveries against May soymeal futures. SBO/DEL MEAL/DEL

  • CBOT July soybeans SN26 were last up 4-3/4 cents at $12.00-1/4 per bushel.
