- Railroad operator CSX CSX.O said on Wednesday that it has restored service in Trenton, Kentucky — after its train carrying toxic sulfur derailed early on Tuesday.

The cause of the derailment near Trenton Tress Shop Road and Dixie Bee Line Highway, which had sent 30 cars off the rails including one carrying molten sulfur, was still under investigation.

"Shipments are now moving through the area, and we are working to minimize any remaining delays," CSX said in a statement.

The wreck on Tuesday had firefighters fighting a blaze from the rail car that carried liquid sulfur, commonly used in industrial applications such as fertilizer production. No injuries were reported.
