Cyera to Acquire Oasis Security to Secure the Identities of AI Agents
Data security company Cyera plans to acquire Oasis Security, a startup focused on managing non-human identities as enterprises increasingly rely on automated software agents to perform tasks, access data and make decisions.
Cyera plans to combine Oasis’s identity controls with its own data security platform, creating what the company described as a continuous trust layer that can determine who, or what, is accessing enterprise data and whether that access is appropriate, the company stated in a blog post.
Oasis employees will join Cyera following the deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Cyera said non-human identities across Fortune 500 environments have surged nearly 500% over the past six months, making them the fastest-growing identity category inside large organizations. The company noted that security programs built primarily around human users are struggling to keep up with software agents that can operate continuously and at machine speed.
Danny Brickman, co-founder and CEO, Oasis Security, commented, “The market is expanding fast, and Oasis had every reason to keep building alone. Joining forces with Cyera was still the obvious move. We share the same conviction, the same values, and the same obsession with our customers, with the execution to serve the biggest enterprises in the world. Cyera redefined data security. We redefined identity for the age of AI.
Together, we will build the next-generation security platform, one that sees the whole picture: the identity behind every agent, the access it requests, the data that access reaches, and the business context that says what is truly at stake. Access is where value is created, and where damage happens; governing it is how enterprises get the first without the second. Data gives that governance the context to weigh every decision. The result is knowing, at any moment, which agent is acting, what it can reach, what it can do, and what it would cost if it went wrong.”
Founded in 2022, Oasis Security emerged as one of the startups targeting that gap, raising about $195 million from investors including Accel, Craft Ventures and Cyberstarts. The company built technology designed to help enterprises discover and control machine identities, a category expected to expand as AI agents become more common.
Cyera has recently acquired Index Ventures-backed Ryft and Genie Security, a startup that was less than a year old at the time of its purchase.
Last month, the company announced its latest $600 million funding round, quadrupling its valuation over the last 18 months to $12 billion.
The round was led by Evolution Equity Partners, with participation from Cyberstarts and Temasek, in addition to all existing investors, including Accel, AT&T Ventures, Blackstone, Coatue, Spark Capital, among others. Cyera is now positioned as one of the most valuable privately held security companies in the world with total funding of over $2 billion.
