Fed's Kashkari says paying more attention to inflation risk
SEOUL, May 29 (Reuters) - Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari said on Friday that April inflation data raised the need to pay attention to inflation risk more closely.
"I think it is premature for me to conclude we need to be raising rates right away, but it makes me further pay attention to the risk that inflation could continue to climb and inflation expectations could become unanchored," Kashkari said at a public event held in Seoul.
The U.S. personal consumption expenditures price index jumped 3.8% in the 12 months through April, the largest rise since May 2023, the Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis said on Thursday.
