GCC welcomes Oman announcement on evacuating sailors stranded in Hormuz
June 26 (Reuters) - Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi on Friday welcomed an announcement by Oman that it will provide a temporary maritime corridor in the Strait of Hormuz, in coordination with the International Maritime Organization, to help evacuate over 11,000 stranded sailors.
He also condemned in a statement what he called Iranian threats to freedom of navigation in the strait.
