General Atlantic Reignites IPO Plans With JPMorgan, Goldman and Morgan Stanley

Private equity firm General Atlantic is making a second run at going public, reviving IPO plans that collapsed in 2022-23 amid market turmoil, with a debut targeted as soon as this year

The New York-based company has hired a trio of big-name investment banks — JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley — to work on the offering, Bloomberg reported. It is also holding preliminary meetings with potential investors.

General Atlantic previously worked with advisers in 2022 and filed confidentially for an IPO the following year. The firm ultimately decided not to go public due to high inflation and rising interest rates, Reuters reported at the time.

General Atlantic’s $129 Billion Portfolio

General Atlantic manages approximately $129 billion in assets under management, inclusive of all strategies, as of June 30, 2026. The firm has more than 900 professionals in 20 countries across five regions.

The company currently invests in major companies, including AI company Anthropic, finance platform Onestream, clinical-stage biotechnology company Nurix, and skincare brand OSEA, the firm’s website states.

Previous investments include Airbnb, Uber Technologies, and apparel company Shein, Bloomberg noted.

In June, tennis player Novak Djokovic joined the firm as a global strategic advisor, applying "his experience as an athlete, investor and entrepreneur," according to a press release at the time.

The 2026 IPO Market

Many companies are looking to capitalize on public sentiment as investor demand strengthens.

According to EY’s Global IPO Trends Q2 2026 report, U.S. IPO proceeds surged 646%, a year-over-year increase to $128 billion through June 30, despite a 35% decline in deal volume.

The first half of the year saw IPO activity in the semiconductor, AI and space sectors; however, the report concluded that new listings could be more diversified going into the second half of 2026.
