GRAINS-Corn slips to fresh low as supply pressure lingers
Updates with European trading, changes dateline
PARIS/BEIJING, June 12 (Reuters) - Chicago corn futures eased on Friday to another multi-month low, as favourable U.S. crop weather and increased forecasts of South American production maintained supply pressure, analysts said.
Soybeans edged down to near a four-month low, with the oilseed market also curbed by a drop in crude oil after U.S. President Donald Trump said a deal to end the Iran war could be signed as soon as this weekend. O/R
Wheat ticked down in step with corn as traders looked beyond drought-hit U.S. harvest prospects to focus on ample global supply.
The most-active corn contract Cv1 on the Chicago Board of Trade was down 0.5% at $4.09-3/4 a bushel by 1100 GMT, after earlier hitting its lowest since late August at $4.08-1/2.
CBOT soybeans Sv1 eased 0.2% to $11.13 a bushel to trade near Thursday's four-month low of $11.08-1/4.
CBOT wheat Wv1 ticked down 0.5% at $5.84 a bushel.
In a widely followed monthly world report, the U.S. Department of Agriculture increased its forecasts for this season's corn output in Argentina and Brazil, as well as soybean production in Argentina.
The USDA also raised its projection of global corn inventories at the end of 2026/27 to above a range of trade expectations.
In wheat, the agency cut its outlook for the U.S. harvest to its lowest in decades following drought, but nudged up its forecast of global supplies.
"The USDA... upgraded forecasts for Black Sea crops, more than offsetting a downgrade in the U.S. harvest estimate," consultancy CRM Agri said.
A slight increase in French soft wheat crop ratings last week, as reported by farm office FranceAgriMer on Friday, also underscored improved conditions in Europe since a heatwave last month.
