Have Fulton Financial Insiders Been Selling Stock?
Fulton Financial Corporation FULT | 0.00 |
We'd be surprised if Fulton Financial Corporation (NASDAQ:FULT) shareholders haven't noticed that the Senior EVP, Angela Sargent, recently sold US$312k worth of stock at US$24.84 per share. However, the silver lining is that the sale only reduced their total holding by 8.5%, so we're hesitant to read anything much into it, on its own.
Fulton Financial Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
Notably, that recent sale by Angela Sargent is the biggest insider sale of Fulton Financial shares that we've seen in the last year. So we know that an insider sold shares at around the present share price of US$24.40. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. We note that this sale took place at around the current price, so it isn't a major concern, though it's hardly a good sign.
In the last twelve months insiders purchased 579.75 shares for US$11k. But they sold 21.66k shares for US$510k. Over the last year we saw more insider selling of Fulton Financial shares, than buying. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. I will like Fulton Financial better if I see some big insider buys.
Does Fulton Financial Boast High Insider Ownership?
For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Fulton Financial insiders own about US$63m worth of shares. That equates to 1.3% of the company. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
What Might The Insider Transactions At Fulton Financial Tell Us?
Insiders sold stock recently, but they haven't been buying. Despite some insider buying, the longer term picture doesn't make us feel much more positive. On the plus side, Fulton Financial makes money, and is growing profits. Insiders own shares, but we're still pretty cautious, given the history of sales. We're in no rush to buy! In addition to knowing about insider transactions going on, it's beneficial to identify the risks facing Fulton Financial.
Of course Fulton Financial may not be the best stock to buy. So you may wish to see this free collection of high quality companies.
