July 21 (Reuters) - London-founded law firm Linklaters said on Tuesday its U.S. profits grew by 39% last year as revenue and profits increased across the firm.

The 3,000-lawyer firm said its global pre-tax profit increased by 11.6% compared to the previous year to 1.2 billion pounds ($1.61 billion) in its financial year ending April 30. Linklaters' revenue grew to 2.47 billion pounds ($3.32 billion), while profit per equity partner increased to 2.48 million pounds ($3.33 million).

• The firm’s U.S. profit growth represented the largest increase among Linklaters’ core markets last year. Asia saw a 36% increase, while Europe and the U.K. grew by 10% and 7%, respectively.

• Linklaters is among the large UK law firms that have sought to make inroads in the United States, the world's largest legal market.

• Firmwide managing partner Paul Lewis in a statement said the firm doubled its revenue and quadrupled profits over the past four years in the United States.

• Large U.S. law firms grew revenues by 12.6% on average in 2025, a Wells Fargo's Legal Specialty Group survey found.

• Linklaters' global chairman of corporate and chairman of the Americas, George Casey, told Reuters in a statement the firm is not currently pursuing any mergers, in the wake of media reports last week that it had approached U.S. firm Cleary Gottlieb.

• A Cleary spokesperson said no merger was planned.

• Other UK-founded firms have secured major U.S. mergers in recent years, including the recent combination of London-based Ashurst and Seattle-founded Perkins Coie, which was finalized in June.

• A&O Shearman, the product of a 2024 transatlantic merger, last week said its profit before tax increased to $1.6 billion, and revenue remained relatively flat at $3.7 billion, in its latest fiscal year.

• Linklaters on Tuesday also pointed to its investments in artificial intelligence, including the launch of a practice in May that brings together lawyers with data scientists.
