POLAND-GREAT BRITAIN TREATY

Britain will sign a new defence and security treaty with Poland on Wednesday to strengthen defence cooperation in the face of increasing hostile threats across Europe, the government said, following similar deals with France and Germany.


NATO

NATO will strengthen the defence of its eastern flank with a new structure that would facilitate the rapid deployment of forces in Latvia and Estonia in the event of a war with Russia, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.


PGE

Poland's biggest utility PGE PGE.WA reported lower first-quarter net profit than a year ago as weaker power sales margins and higher carbon emission costs outweighed stronger heating demand and output from new gas units.


TAXES

The Ministry of Finance said that one in ten Polish taxpayers now pays the higher 32% tax rate, a result of the freezing of tax thresholds, which is the subject of ongoing dispute within the ruling coalition, Puls Biznesu daily reported.


DEBT

On Wednesday, the Polish Ministry of Finance will hold an auction of bonds worth 7.0-11.0 billion zlotys ($1.92 billion-$3.02 billion)
