Databricks has finalized its acquisition of Panther, an AI-powered security operations platform, as the data and artificial intelligence company moves to strengthen its cybersecurity offerings.

The deal combines Panther’s security operations center (SOC) workflows, detection engine and automation capabilities with Databricks’ security lakehouse platform, which helps enterprises manage and analyze large-scale security data.

Databricks said the combination addresses challenges facing traditional security information and event management (SIEM) systems: rising data costs, fragmented tools and manual alert investigations.

Panther brings more than 100 integrations across cloud providers, identity systems and software platforms, plus detection-as-code capabilities that let security teams build and deploy threat detection rules through standard development processes.

Databricks envisions an “agentic” security operations model, where AI systems help teams identify threats, investigate incidents and improve detection in real time.
