Madison Gas and Electric (MGE), in partnership with We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service (WPS), subsidiaries of WEC Energy Group, has received approval from the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to purchase shares in four renewable energy projects. The approval covers investments in solar capacity, battery storage, and wind capacity. MGE will own a share of these projects, specifically 35 MW of solar, 5 MW of battery storage, and nearly 18 MW of wind power. The projects include the Saratoga Solar Energy Center, Ursa Solar Park, Badger Hollow Wind Farm, and Whitetail Wind Farm, with expected service dates between 2027 and 2028. This approval is a significant step in MGE's progress toward its net-zero carbon electricity goal by 2050.
