Several Insiders Invested In PowerFleet Flagging Positive News
PowerFleet, Inc. AIOT | 0.00 |
When a single insider purchases stock, it is typically not a major deal. However, when multiple insiders purchase stock, like in PowerFleet, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:AIOT) instance, it's good news for shareholders.
Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.
PowerFleet Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
The CEO & Director Steve Towe made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$102k worth of shares at a price of US$4.42 each. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being US$4.41). While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. It is generally more encouraging if they paid above the current price, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels.
PowerFleet insiders may have bought shares in the last year, but they didn't sell any. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Does PowerFleet Boast High Insider Ownership?
For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. PowerFleet insiders own about US$36m worth of shares. That equates to 6.1% of the company. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
What Might The Insider Transactions At PowerFleet Tell Us?
It doesn't really mean much that no insider has traded PowerFleet shares in the last quarter. But insiders have shown more of an appetite for the stock, over the last year. Overall we don't see anything to make us think PowerFleet insiders are doubting the company, and they do own shares. Of course, the future is what matters most.
Of course PowerFleet may not be the best stock to buy. So you may wish to see this free collection of high quality companies.
