Shareholders May Not Overlook Weave Communications Insiders Selling US$1.6m In Stock
Weave Communications, Inc. WEAV | 0.00 |
Even though Weave Communications, Inc. (NYSE:WEAV) stock gained 15% last week, insiders who sold US$1.6m worth of stock over the past year are probably better off. Selling at an average price of US$7.30, which is higher than the current price, may have been the wisest decision for these insiders as their investment would have been worth less now than when they sold.
While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.
Weave Communications Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the CEO & Director, Brett White, for US$417k worth of shares, at about US$7.73 per share. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. The good news is that this large sale was at well above current price of US$5.92. So it is hard to draw any strong conclusion from it.
In the last year Weave Communications insiders didn't buy any company stock. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. If you click on the chart, you can see all the individual transactions, including the share price, individual, and the date!
I will like Weave Communications better if I see some big insider buys.
Does Weave Communications Boast High Insider Ownership?
Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Weave Communications insiders own about US$26m worth of shares. That equates to 5.4% of the company. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
What Might The Insider Transactions At Weave Communications Tell Us?
The fact that there have been no Weave Communications insider transactions recently certainly doesn't bother us. Still, the insider transactions at Weave Communications in the last 12 months are not very heartening. The modest level of insider ownership is, at least, some comfort. So these insider transactions can help us build a thesis about the stock, but it's also worthwhile knowing the risks facing this company.
Of course Weave Communications may not be the best stock to buy. So you may wish to see this free collection of high quality companies.
