Sweden vows $54 million in support to airlines as Iran war pushes up jet fuel costs
STOCKHOLM, May 21 (Reuters) - The Swedish government said on Thursday it had earmarked 500 million crowns ($54 million) to support airlines in the face of the global energy crisis, as part of an earlier announced energy relief package.
The government last week said it would temporarily lower fuel tax and introduce other measure to shield households and businesses from soaring energy costs amid the war, at a total expected cost of 17.5 billion crowns ($1.87 billion).
Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson told a press conference that while fuel prices are up, there is still no shortage in Sweden.
