Sweden vows $54 million in support to airlines as Iran war pushes up jet fuel costs

- The Swedish government said on Thursday it had earmarked 500 million crowns ($54 million) to support airlines in the face of the global energy crisis, as part of an earlier announced energy relief package.

  • The government last week said it would temporarily lower fuel tax and introduce other measure to shield households and businesses from soaring energy costs amid the war, at a total expected cost of 17.5 billion crowns ($1.87 billion).

  • Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson told a press conference that while fuel prices are up, there is still no shortage in Sweden.
