Swedish reactor developer Blykalla signs cooperation deal with Hitachi Energy
STOCKHOLM, June 29 (Reuters) - Swedish nuclear reactor maker Blykalla has signed a preliminary agreement with Hitachi Energy to collaborate on deploying Blykalla's small modular reactors, it said on Monday.
The memorandum of understanding includes cooperation on designs for grid connection and network integration, on-site electrical architecture and digital tools for construction and operation.
The two companies said they were focusing initially on customers with the highest power demands, beginning with data centres and energy-intensive industry.
In May, Blykalla said it planned to build a reactor park near the eastern Swedish city of Gavle with six of its 55-megawatt reactors. The reactors, which are still being developed, use an updated version of lead-cooling technology developed for Russian nuclear submarines in the 1950s.
Last month, it applied to a government scheme offering cheap loans and price guarantees for nuclear developers.
