US Cash Grains-Corn basis mostly flat-down at elevators, processors

- Spot basis bids for corn were mostly steady to lower at grain elevators, processors and river terminals in the U.S. Midwest on Friday after some farmers booked sales this week, dealers said.

  • An elevator in Cincinnati, Ohio, reduced its corn basis by 5 cents per bushel. Basis declined by 1 cent each at a processor in Blair, Nebraska, and a river terminal near Davenport, Iowa.

  • Farmers and grain dealers monitored U.S. weather because July is the critical month for development of the corn crop.

  • Forecasts have pointed to more moderate heat in the U.S. grain belt after a hot period, dealers said. Timely rains will reach the Midwest, according to Commodity Weather Group.

  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture made bigger-than-expected cuts to its estimates of U.S. 2026-27 corn and soybean ending stocks in a monthly report.

  • Tighter supplies will leave grain markets more vulnerable to rallies if U.S. crops face harsh weather this summer, market analysts said.

  • For soybeans, some dealers rolled their basis bids to Chicago Board of Trade November SX26 futures.

  • A processor in Decatur, Illinois, raised its soybean bid by 10 cents per bushel for delivery by July 20.
