The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At AMREP

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when insider Rainey Lancaster bought US$306k worth of shares at a price of US$24.32 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being US$23.24). It's very possible they regret the purchase, but it's more likely they are bullish about the company. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. As a general rule, we feel more positive about a stock if insiders have bought shares at above current prices, because that suggests they viewed the stock as good value, even at a higher price.

Happily, we note that in the last year insiders paid US$2.1m for 82.38k shares. On the other hand they divested 4.00k shares, for US$94k. In the last twelve months there was more buying than selling by AMREP insiders. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders.
