ACWA Power expands renewable energy portfolio in Africa

Live: ACWA Power, the world’s largest private desalination company, a pioneer in energy transformation, and the first in green hydrogen, announced that the Redstone Concentrated Solar Power Plant in South Africa has achieved a production capacity of 50 megawatts, and is expected to achieve its maximum production capacity of (100 megawatts) in the coming few days .

The successful coordination of Redstone’s operations with the South African National Grid, through ACWA Power’s collaboration with Herlow Gas and SEPCO3, consolidates ACWA Power’s position as the largest private investor in the renewable energy sector in Africa. The project provides clean energy to approximately 200,000 households, while significantly reducing carbon emissions .

In a related context, the Kom Ombo solar photovoltaic power plant in the Arab Republic of Egypt has reached its full production capacity (200 megawatts), which represents another achievement within ACWA Power’s diverse portfolio of projects being developed in the African continent .

With over US$7 billion of investments in Africa, ACWA Power is a leading renewable energy investor on the continent and is now the leading provider of power and water in Africa. Additionally, the company continues to play an integral role in developing its own green hydrogen and battery storage projects, further supporting Africa’s renewable energy landscape.
