Riyadh - Mubasher: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud issued a decree, based on a proposal by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, appointing Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST ).

This appointment affirms KAUST's strategic role in strengthening the research, development, and innovation ecosystem, particularly in areas vital to the Kingdom's future, such as energy, sustainability, and technological advancement, according to the Saudi Press Agency ( SPA ).

Under the leadership of Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, KAUST is poised to strengthen its position as a global center for scientific excellence and transformational innovation .

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman has extensive experience in the energy and sustainability sector, having played a pivotal role in formulating and implementing policies that support the transition to clean energy and promote innovation in this field .

This appointment will be an important step in advancing KAUST's Accelerated Impact strategy, which aims to accelerate scientific research and link its outcomes to industrial and technical applications, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. This appointment also highlights the Kingdom's research efforts to address environmental and climate challenges, promote the use of renewable energy, and achieve net-zero energy through the university's research .
