PRESSR: Ericsson announces the completion of the Aduna deal

Ericsson (NASDAQ : ERIC ) announced the completion of capital investments by twelve global telecommunications service providers in its subsidiary Adona, formally establishing Adona as a 50:50 joint venture. Adona was created to integrate and sell network application programming interfaces ( APIs ) globally and has been operational since the agreement was signed on September 11, 2024.

Adona is now owned by AT&T , Bharti Airtel , Deutsche Telekom, Ericsson, KDDI , Orange, Reliance Jio, Singtel, Telefonica, Telstra, T-Mobile, Verizon and Vodafone .

In addition to financing and commercial agreements, Adona's shareholders bring added value through their extensive experience and active support of the telecom sector, through their established relationships with telecom operators, their deep knowledge of the developer community, and their specialized expertise in network application programming interfaces . Ericsson has contributed its global network platform, upon which Adona will build and develop its future services .

Ericsson holds a 50% stake in the joint venture, while the remaining 50% is shared collectively by the aforementioned telecom companies .

Commenting on the announcement, Adona CEO Anthony Bartolo said: “The completion of this acquisition marks a significant new milestone for Adona. In just 10 months, we have built an ecosystem that includes some of the biggest names in the ICT industry. This achievement is a strong incentive to continue accelerating the adoption of network APIs by developers around the world, while also attracting more network operators to join the company, which will contribute to the growth and development of the sector and improve the developer experience .”

In addition to its founding partners, Adona's expanding ecosystem includes a wide range of technical and collaborative partnerships, including more telecom service providers around the world, as well as major developer platform companies, global systems integrators (GSIs) , communications as a service (CPaaS) companies, and independent software vendors (ISVs).

Current partners in this ecosystem include e&, Bouygues Telecom, Free, CelcomDigi, Softbank, NTT DOCOMO, Google Cloud, Vonage, Sinch, Infobip, Enstream, Bridge Alliance, Syniverse, JT Global, Microsoft, Wipro , and Tech Mahindra , each playing a pivotal role in driving the global expansion and impact of Web APIs .
