International Trade Finance discusses enhancing sustainable practices in the agricultural sector

Riyadh - Mubasher: The International Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), a member of the Islamic Development Bank Group, held a high-level session on Friday on “Promoting Sustainable and Organic Agriculture in Central Asia.”
This came on the sidelines of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the Climate - COP29 in Baku, with the participation of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, and many regulatory and financial bodies, as well as a number of ministers of finance and agriculture, specialists and stakeholders, according to the Saudi Press Agency "SPA".
The session addressed strategies for building resilience to climate change and promoting sustainable practices in the agriculture sector in Central Asia. Key points and discussions of the session by participants included the need for market access, harmonization of certifications, and sustainable practices to position Central Asia as a leader in organic agriculture.
“Our initiatives demonstrate our dedication to regional integration, sustainable agriculture, climate finance support, and a just transition to clean energy, positioning Central Asia as a global leader in organic agriculture and trade resilience,” said ITFC Chief Operating Officer Nazim Noordali.
He added: “As the commercial arm of the Islamic Development Bank, ITFC is uniquely positioned to drive sustainable development through innovative trade solutions. With financing of over $75 billion over 15 years, the Corporation remains committed to alleviating poverty and promoting global economic growth.”
The IFC-organized COP29 session on “Promoting Sustainable and Organic Agriculture in Central Asia” concluded with impactful insights from speakers, experts and officials, and answering questions and inquiries from the audience.
