Zamalek fines Fattouh one million pounds and refers him to investigation
July 19 (Reuters Arabic) - Egyptian Premier League club Zamalek has fined player Ahmed Fattouh one million Egyptian pounds, suspended his dues and referred him for investigation.
"Zamalek's sporting director, John Edward, has decided, after consulting with football director Abdel Nasser Mohamed, to fine first-team player Ahmed Fattouh one million Egyptian pounds, suspend his dues, and refer him for investigation," the club said in a statement on its Facebook page on Saturday.
Zamalek added that its decision against its left-back (27 years old) came "in light of his appearance at a public event without obtaining permission."
Egyptian media reported that a video clip circulated on social media revealed that Fattouh was participating in a concert on the North Coast.
Zamalek had previously announced that Fattouh had left the team's training camp due to a relative's illness. The player is currently undergoing a rehabilitation program and will return to the camp within 48 hours.
