Riyadh - Mubasher: The General Authority for Statistics (GAStat) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the field of multiple indicator cluster surveys and raise the level of coordination and integration of efforts between them, at the headquarters of the General Authority for Statistics in Riyadh.

The agreement was signed by the President of the General Authority for Statistics, Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Dosari, and the Regional Representative of the UNICEF Gulf Office in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Al-Tayeb Yaqoub Adam.

The memorandum of understanding, according to a statement by the Statistics Authority, included enhancing cooperation in the field of multiple indicator cluster surveys, exchanging expertise and information between the two parties, exchanging visits between experts and specialists in related fields, and organizing conferences, seminars and workshops related to the field of multiple indicator cluster surveys.

The President of the General Authority for Statistics, Fahd Al-Dosari, explained that the statistical work undertaken by the Authority stems from the regional leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of statistics through building and measuring statistical indicators.

Al-Dosari pointed out at the same time that cooperation with UNICEF contributes to supporting work on relevant surveys and achieving the goals of national visions and sustainable development through joint work to raise the level of performance in terms of exchanging statistical data and enhancing joint cooperation between the two sides.

It is worth noting that the General Authority for Statistics is the entity concerned with statistics in the Kingdom, and the sole official reference for implementing statistical work and its technical supervisor and organizer. The Authority’s tasks are multiple and are represented in different aspects, the most prominent of which is collecting statistical data and information from public and private entities and individuals, and analyzing and studying this data to calculate various statistical indicators.

The Authority also provides consultations and statistical reports for surveys, research and other data and statistical services that fall within its scope of work.
