PRESSR: Beko announces the appointment of Umit Gunel as Regional Director for North West Africa
Cairo, Egypt: Beko Egypt for Home Appliances announced the expansion of the powers of Umit Gunel, the company’s General Manager in Egypt, to become the Regional Manager for Beko in North West Africa, in addition to his current position. This comes within the framework of the company’s keenness to expand its operations in the Middle East and Africa, to lead the home appliances market, and provide innovative technologies and superior quality to the region, with Gunel’s vision to create sustainable businesses to enable exports, develop feeder industries, the R&D center, and create job opportunities.
Jonel has been the General Manager of Beko Egypt since 2021, and in a short period of time, he succeeded in leading the company to become one of the best brands in the field of home appliances in Egypt, through a strategic plan based on expanding the retail network, customer service, brand development, accelerating the pace of business scope and growth, in addition to achieving high quality standards in services.
Ümit Günel led Beko’s efforts to establish a regional manufacturing center in Egypt in the 10th of Ramadan Industrial City, built on an area of 114,000 square meters, with investments of $100 million, and scheduled to open in the coming few months, to produce 1.2 million units in the first phase, and export more than 60% of the production to global markets.
Under the leadership of Jonel, Beko has achieved great success in Egypt in recent years, through expanding its retail network, enhancing customer service, and developing the brand, and is committed to continuing this development throughout North West Africa, given the region’s great potential for growth.
Umit Gunel graduated from Bogazici University in Turkey with a degree in Electronics Engineering and holds an Executive MBA from Koç University. He has worked for Arçelik, a global home appliance company, for 20 years, holding various executive positions such as R&D Engineer, Supply Chain and Purchasing Manager, Product Manager and Marketing Manager.
Beko has been present in the Egyptian market for 10 years, supporting Egypt’s Vision 2030 in localizing industry and the green economy by providing advanced technological solutions, after Beko’s name emerged as the fastest growing brand in the European market, over the past 60 years, thanks to its dedication to innovation and quality.
