PRESSR: Trina Storage unveils advanced energy storage system with a capacity exceeding 6 MWh in Saudi Arabia

Trina Storage, a leading global energy storage solutions provider and a business unit of Trina Solar, announced the launch of its new 6.25 MWh Elementa 3 energy storage platform at the Saudi Arabia Solar & Storage Direct Exhibition. The new platform features higher power density, enhanced safety standards, and improved cost-effectiveness, making it a key pillar in accelerating the region's sustainable energy transition.

As part of Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom is rapidly moving toward transforming the national energy mix, aiming for renewable energy sources to account for 50% of total electricity production by 2030. In light of this strategic shift, energy storage is gaining increasing importance as a pivotal element that contributes to enhancing the stability of the electricity grid, supporting peak load management, and regulating the frequency of electricity supply. This in turn leads to increased market demand for energy storage solutions and technologies.

Elementa 3: More capacity, higher efficiency, and improved safety

Elementa 3 represents a comprehensive leap forward in capacity, efficiency, and safety. The system is equipped with 587 Ah cells, bringing the total capacity per cabinet to 6.25 MWh. The module's energy density increases by 12.3% compared to the previous generation, while the compact design increases the site-level energy density by 24.7%, resulting in a significant reduction in the levelized cost of storage. Chip-level active balancing technology also extends the system's lifetime and supports its overall long-term performance.

Safety standards have also been enhanced at all levels, through improved cell materials, the adoption of a module-level liquid cooling system, and the development of an advanced equipment cabinet structure that provides full fire resistance for two hours and ensures reliable operation even under the harshest electrical grid conditions.

Designed for the harsh climate of the Middle East

The Elementa 3 system is fully optimized for the harsh environmental conditions of the Kingdom and the Middle East, including high temperatures, dust, and high salt concentrations. The modules' exterior features a C5 corrosion-resistant coating, enabling them to withstand sea salt spray and the corrosive effects of sand, particularly in coastal areas along the Red Sea. The integrated modules comply with IP67 protection standards, ensuring reliable performance in dust-prone areas. The system operates efficiently and stably at temperatures up to 55°C, supported by a dynamic cooling system that ensures long-term operational efficiency and reliability, even in the most extreme heat conditions.

Stimulating the transformation of the energy sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and supporting the sustainable growth process

Trina Storage has established a strong global presence, with cumulative shipments exceeding 12 GWh by mid-2025. In the Middle East, the company has demonstrated its exceptional capabilities in local delivery services and comprehensive operations management. A notable example is the delivery and grid connection of a 300 MWh battery storage system in Egypt in just 60 days, setting a new benchmark for project speed at the local level.
