Abu Dhabi - Mubasher: The UAE Search and Rescue Team, affiliated with the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police, the National Guard, and the Joint Operations Command, continues to carry out humanitarian missions in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, as part of the UAE's efforts to support countries affected by natural disasters and provide urgent relief aid.
The UAE team's participation is part of the emergency humanitarian response to the violent earthquake that struck large areas of Myanmar, causing significant loss of life and property, and destroying infrastructure and homes. This required immediate intervention to save lives and provide support to those affected, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on Thursday.
Brigadier General Salem Abdullah bin Barak Al Dhaheri, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority, emphasized that the participation of the UAE Search and Rescue Team in Myanmar embodies the UAE's steadfast humanitarian approach and its unwavering commitment to extending a helping hand to those in need, regardless of geography or challenges. He noted that the team's efforts on the ground reflect the values of solidarity and responsibility instilled by the leadership.
Colonel Muzaffar Mohammed Al Ameri, Commander of the UAE Search and Rescue Team, said the team is continuing its field efforts under challenging conditions and an environment that requires the highest levels of caution and precision. He noted the team's commitment to the highest standards of occupational safety at all stages of mission execution, from field assessments to dealing with collapsed buildings and retrieving survivors from under the rubble.
Al-Ameri emphasized that close cooperation with local authorities in Myanmar and ongoing coordination with international emergency teams contribute to enhancing operational efficiency and expanding the scope of response, ensuring the greatest possible number of lives are saved and logistical and relief support is provided to affected areas.
He explained that the team has commenced search and rescue operations in six locations so far, and is continuing its work with high efficiency without interruption, within a shift system covering both morning and evening shifts, with the aim of accelerating the response and reaching the largest possible number of affected locations in the shortest possible time.
