Riyadh - Mubasher: NEOM's Board of Directors announced today, Sunday, the opening of Sindalah Island, the global destination for luxury marine tourism on the Red Sea .
Sindalah is the first destination in NEOM to receive visitors, indicating the acceleration of work and the progress of NEOM projects towards achieving its ambitious global vision .
It is noteworthy that Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Board of Directors of NEOM, announced in December 2022 the development of the island, whose opening today represents an important step to support the tourism sector in the Kingdom .
The opening of Sandala embodies the tireless and accelerated efforts made by NEOM over the past two years, with the participation of a workforce of 30,000 workers, in cooperation with 4 local partners in the contracting sector, and up to 60 subcontractors. It also confirms NEOM’s ability to create new and distinctive destinations and successfully implement them.
To celebrate this achievement, Sandala welcomed the first batch of guests invited to visit the island .
Located in the heart of the Red Sea, 5 kilometres off the coast of NEOM, in the northwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, this destination extends over an area of 840 thousand square metres, and is NEOM’s gateway to the Red Sea, which provides easy and smooth access for yacht and ship owners from Europe, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and is a 17-hour sailing from the most important destinations on the Mediterranean coast .
It also includes a group of restaurants, hotels, global facilities and unique experiences. It is expected that Sindalah will provide about 3,500 jobs, and will receive about 2,400 visitors daily by 2028, which will contribute to strengthening the growing hospitality and tourism sectors in the Kingdom, and support economic diversification plans in line with Vision 2030 .
On this occasion, NEOM CEO Nazmi Al-Nasr said that Sindalah enhances NEOM’s efforts to support luxury tourism in the Kingdom.
Al-Nasr added: “As we celebrate the opening of the island, we appreciate the support of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Board of Directors of NEOM, and his ambitious vision and constant guidance, which were behind the completion of this project in harmony with Saudi Vision 2030.”
Al-Nasr continued: “As the first destination in NEOM to begin receiving visitors, Sindalah will provide a glimpse of what the future holds in terms of qualitative development projects and different distinctive destinations. It is an achievement we are proud of in NEOM’s journey, and we look forward to achieving more of our ambitious goals with His Highness’s continued support. ”
Sandala is distinguished by its diverse marine environment, as its waters embrace 1,100 species of fish, including 45 unique species, in addition to more than 300 species of coral reefs, providing a unique experience for diving in the depths of the island and exploring the wonders of marine nature.
Sandala includes a number of facilities that enhance its luxurious tourism experiences, including: the advanced marina, which includes 86 berths, which will contribute to launching a new global sailing season, taking advantage of the island’s strategic location and moderate climate throughout the year.
The Sindalah Yacht Club, with its distinctive interiors by world-renowned designer Stefano Ricci, is the marina’s most prominent landmark, offering state-of-the-art services to visitors, yacht owners, crew managers and crew members. The island also offers mooring facilities and additional marinas for mega yachts, in addition to a full range of yacht management services .
