Abu Dhabi - Mubasher: The UAE is among the top three investors in the Belarusian economy, said Denis Melishkin, Vice Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Denis Milishkin noted that the total volume of foreign direct investment in the country reached $1.7 billion, including approximately $300 million from the UAE, according to 2024 data, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on Monday.
Speaking to Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the AIM Investment Summit in Abu Dhabi, Milishkin added that the Belarusian delegation's participation in the summit is the first of its kind, and that Belarusian companies have attracted the interest of investors from the UAE and other countries participating in the event. He stressed that the participation in the AIM Summit reflects Belarus's high investment potential and its growing attractiveness to the international economic community.
Belarus is participating with a pavilion comprising seven exhibiting companies and a trade delegation of 10 companies representing Belarus's free economic zones, which are based on a preferential tax regime that offers investors incentives including reduced profits tax and other tax benefits.
Milishkin explained that the companies represent the information technology sector, which is one of the fastest-growing sectors both locally and globally, in addition to the retail, logistics, and consumer goods distribution sectors.
He highlighted Belarus's logistical potential, as the country lies at the intersection of major transport corridors linking the European Union and Russia, as well as the growing North-South route. He noted that Belarusian companies have expressed their willingness to offer their infrastructure and services as a logistics hub for regional and transcontinental freight traffic.
The Vice President of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed his confidence that participation in the AIM Summit will become a permanent part of Belarus' economic agenda in the coming years, noting that the forum constitutes an important platform for showcasing national potential and attracting more foreign investment.
