The only goal of the match came from the first real chance through Aboubacar Walusimbi, who unleashed a powerful shot from outside the penalty area, giving Senegal their first goal of the tournament.

Ugandan goalkeeper Idrissa Wabe made several saves against Senegal, most notably when he saved a direct shot from Mignane Ndour.

A penalty and a goal for Senegal were disallowed for offside, while Uganda held on to their lead until the end to secure their qualification for the round of 16.
