April 10 (Reuters) - The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk sea freight index, which monitors rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, snapped a twelve-day losing streak on Thursday, buoyed by higher rates in the capesize vessel segment.

* The capesize index .BACI rose by 49 points or 2.8% to 1,781.
* Average daily earnings for capesize vessels .BATCA, which typically transport 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, increased by $401 to $14,768.
* The panamax index .BPNI shed 14 points, or 1.2%, to 1,189, lowest since March 12.
* Average daily earnings for panamax vessels .BPWT, which usually carry 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, was down $119 at $10,705.
* Among smaller vessels, the supramax index .BSIS dropped to nearly a one-month low at 941.
