* The capesize index .BACI shed 74 points or 4.1% to 1,753.

* Average daily earnings for capesize vessels .BATCA, which typically transport 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, decreased by $613 to $14,535.

* The panamax index .BPNI rose by 18 points to 1,208, marking a one-week high.
