Insiders who acquired US$990.8k worth of Apogee Therapeutics, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:APGE) stock at an average price of US$49.54 in the past 12 months may be dismayed by the recent 13% price decline. This is not good as insiders invest based on expectations that their money will appreciate over time. However, as a result of recent losses, their original investment is now worth only US$646.4k.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Apogee Therapeutics

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Independent Chairman of the Board Mark McKenna bought US$991k worth of shares at a price of US$49.85 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being US$32.32). While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when an insider has purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price. Mark McKenna was the only individual insider to buy shares in the last twelve months.
