OpenAI dropped GPT-4o on Monday after several weeks of rumors about the AI startup's next big reveal. The company showed off several examples of what this updated version of GPT is capable of.

What Happened: OpenAI's GPT-4o combines three different modalities – text, vision, and audio – for the first time as far as far as the chatbot from the Microsoft Corp.-backed (NASDAQ:MSFT) AI startup is concerned.

OpenAI showed off GPT-4o's capabilities with real-time voice translation, the ability to change emotions during a conversation, making meeting notes with multiple speakers, and more.

It's likely that GPT-4o could replace several startups that offer one of these services as their business model. However, it's worth noting that for now, GPT-4o is only being rolled out in a phased manner, so it could take a while before it is enabled for you.

Until then, check out these examples of everything that GPT-4o is capable of.

Chatbots can sometimes feel very programmatic – conversations sometimes don't flow all that well. But OpenAI seems to have made some progress in this regard.

OpenAI's new GPT-4o model can be interrupted in real-time and it can change its emotion on the spot.
