Adds context about Carrefour Brasil and Carrefour ties with Peninsula in paragraph 2-4
SAO PAULO, April 14 (Reuters) - Peninsula, the investments company founded by the late Abilio Diniz, sold its entire 4.9% stake in Carrefour Brasil CRFB3.SA, the Brazilian unit of France's Carrefour CARR.PA said in a securities filing on Monday.
The move comes days ahead of a general shareholders meeting in Carrefour Brasil, where investors will vote later this month on a proposal to take the Brazilian unit private.
Peninsula had previously showed intention to convert all its Carrefour Brasil stake into Carrefour shares, the French company said when unveiling its bid in February.
Peninsula is also one of the largest shareholders of Carrefour.
