What is an option chain?

An option chain is a listing of all the options that are available of a given security. Usually shown in a table format, the chain will typically be categorized by expiration date and segmented by calls vs. puts. Please see details below:

An option chain provides a quick picture of all listed puts, calls, their expiration, strike prices, asks and bids, and the volume of options being traded at the moment. This information is constantly changing moment to moment with the market. It could be advantageous for traders to analyze the market and take appropriate and immediate actions.
