Abu Dhabi - Mubasher: The number of passengers passing through Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi has exceeded 30 million over the past 12 months, according to data released by the airport.
Abu Dhabi's Zayed International Airport has continued to lead the region's airports in passenger capacity growth over the past few months. In May, the airport's passenger capacity rose to 1.57 million seats, up from 1.39 million seats in May, representing a 13.1% increase.
According to Abu Dhabi Airports' data for 2024, 29.4 million passengers passed through its airports, a significant increase of 28.1%, compared to 22.9 million passengers in 2023.
This is a result of its expanding network and strategic partnerships, and its commitment to providing a world-class travel experience, contributing to consolidating the emirate's position as a leading global aviation hub.
The growth in aircraft traffic at Zayed International Airport was the primary driver of this growth, enabling passengers to travel across an extensive network of more than 125 global destinations, with 29 new destinations set to be launched by 2024.
Eight new airlines joined the Zayed International Airport network, and this expansion was reflected in a 10% growth in aircraft traffic, from 226,362 flights in 2023 to 249,747 flights in 2024 across the five airports.
